Masters Swim

Today's scheduled workout was a 1600 swim workout.

I probably did end up swimming somewhere aroud 1600 in the masters swim workout today.

There was a 4 X 125 set in which we swam choice of stroke on odd lengths (1, 3, 5) and crawl on even lengths. I got a nice mixture of breast, one-arm fly and backstroke on the stroke lengths. You hear that? I chose to do some one-arm fly! I'm not choosing to do full fly, yet ;-P

I rode the rollers for 0:30 without a HR monitor and kept it easy.

Today's scheduled workout was Bike 0:30 Z2 QC to Run 0:15 Z2.

I rode the rollers without a HR monitor for 0:30 keeping it super easy. Then I ran outside for 0:15 without a HR monitor keeping it super easy.

Today's scheduled workout was a 1600 straight swim and Run 0:30 Z2.

I did the masters swim. Today we did more backstroke work than we have done before. Jim pointed out a stroke correction I need to make. I was exiting my right hand from the water pinky up instead of thumb up. Exit thumb up, enter pinky first.

I ran for about 0:30 without a HR outside. I kept it really nice and easy.

Zone 1 - Zone 2 Run

Today's scheduled workout was Run 1:00 Z1 - Z2.

I ran for 1:00 without a HR monitor outside. When I left, my phone indicated it was 12 degrees. Now the phone indicates that it's 14 degrees. The cold wasn't a problem, though. I was able to dress appropriately. I ran in my boots because there is a good amount of snow on the ground.

It was great to get out relatively early and get in a workout.

Stationary Bike #1

Today's scheduled workout was Bike 1:30 Z2.

The weather didn't cooperate and I needed to head to the fitness center. I rode the first 0:45 on a Cybex doing the rolling hills workout. I think my HR stayed around 100 bpm and my Watts were down around 50. The second 0:45 I rode on the expresso and my HR was around 140 and my Watts were around 100.

This was definitely a good workout; no junk time today. I made the most of not being able to get outside and ride!

Masters Swim

Today's scheduled workout was a 1600 swim.

I did the masters swim. I think I did somewhere around 2000.

I really enjoy doing the masters swim. It's so nice to not have to come up with my own workouts and to be "forced" to do things I wouldn't do otherwise.

Road Ride Zone 2

Today's scheduled workout was Bike 0:45 Z2.

I rode outside for a little bit over 0:45 without a HR monitor. The weather was gorgeous and I was a bit overdressed.

I'm hoping that the weather will hold out so that I can ride outside on Saturday, but I don't know if that's too likely :-(

Today's scheduled workout was Bike 0:30 Z2 (QC) Run 0:15 Z2.

I rode the rollers for 0:30 without a HR monitor in a little smaller gear and then I ran for 0:15 without a HR monitor at an easy pace. I intentionally took it easy since it seemed like last week I was feeling tired and yesterday it was hard for me to get out of bed. I felt fine for this workout.

Today's scheduled workout was 1600 yd swim workout and Run 0:30 Z2.

I was really tired this morning and it took me a few minutes to get out of bed.

The masters swim workout had a couple of sets of 4 X 50 full effort. One was crawl and one was stroke. There was another set of 4 X 50 full effort with fins.

Since the Masters swim was pretty hard and I was feeling tired last week already, I decided to do a super easy run. I ran for 0:30 without a HR monitor.
