Zone 1 - Zone 2 Run
Instead of running for two hours, I took Zen for a walk for 1/2 hour and then walked for 1.5 hours. I didn't bring the metronome with me when I walked, but I did my best to aim for a cadence of 90. Walking at the high cadence definitely still afforded me a solid workout. I walked Jewell / Alameda / Green Mountain.

I was going to swim for one hour. But, my shoulder was sore and I ended up being tight on time. So, I did a 30 minute straight swim. I don't have any idea how much distance I covered, although I'm pretty certain I swam 900 yards in the last 15 minutes or so. I do enjoy swimming by time.

I almost forgot to post my entry today. I rode for about one hour on the Bear Creek Trail. On the way back I saw two healthy snakes crossing the path. I made sure to stop and encourage them to move quickly to safety.
I think the bike computer reported something like 15.2 mph average pace.
I think the ride back was a bit slower than the ride out, as supported by the fact that the total riding time was over one hour.

I went for an easy 30 minute ride. The bike computer reported an average speed of 15.9 mph. Then I did an easy 15 minute run.
It's definitely preferable to get up in the morning and get in my workout. It's a great way to start the day.

I squoze in a workout at the last minute before I had to pick Eli up from school.
I swam for 30 minutes in the outdoor pool. I don't know how much distance I covered. Then I ran for about 18 minutes.
This was a super easy workout and also a super enjoyable workout.

I ran for two hours. I took Jewell / Alameda / Garrison / Kendrick Lake. This was a really hard workout; the hilliness is extremely demanding.
I have been doing my workouts without a heart rate monitor, thinking that I was just going to maintain an easy effort. But, I'm wondering if I have been working harder than I intend and if I should be wearing the monitor to ensure that I'm keeping the intensity low enough.

I rode for about 3 hours. I made it back just before it started to rain, which eventually turned into a downpour and hailstorm.
I'm still riding without the heart rate monitor, as my intention is to keep the workouts easy. However, living in the foot hills means that I'm going to get some hill work no matter what I do.
I would say that the workout was enjoyable enough, but wasn't exactly easy.

I got drenched when I took Zen for a walk. But, then the sun came out and I headed for my workout.
The outdoor pool opened this week. So, I decided to do my workout outdoors!
I was told that the pool is a little shorter than 25 yards. So, I swam 28 X ~100 yards @ 1.30 seconds per stroke. It was so much fun to swim outside in the sunshine. I definitely want to do this more. But, I'll have to be careful about getting sunburned.

I rode for about one hour and fifteen minutes. I thought that I was taking a route that was easier than the Morrison Road / Alameda one. But, I guess that living in the foot hills means that there are no easy routes heading west. I took Jewell / Alameda / C470 / Route 6.
The bike computer reported an average speed of 12.9 mph (sad trombone). I still enjoyed the ride, though. It was great to get out in the morning and start my day with the ride.

I rode easy for 30 minutes at a cadence of 90 rpm and then ran easy for 15 minutes at a cadence of 90.
My bike computer reported an average speed of 15.4 mph.
The transition from the bike to the run was perfectly smooth; it didn't take any time for my legs to adjust. I don't know if the easy transition carries much significance, though, because I didn't bike for very long or very hard. And, since I don't think I have been commenting about the transition in any of the previous bricks I can't say whether this is any different.
