Sprint Tri Workout

[Wednesday, August 6, 2014]

Today was my second workout in my 2015 IM Journey: 5 minutes swim, 26.5 minutes bike, 17.5 minutes run. I think I'm doing a good job of keeping an easy / moderate intensity on the swim and the run. But, I think I still need to back off the intensity a bit on the bike. Part of the issue is probably due to the fact that I'm riding a course on the Expresso bike and I'm getting too competitive. The truth is, that when I ride one of the Basic courses I am so much faster than the Pacer. It might be worthwhile for me to back things down to the level of the Pacer.

The journey begins

[Tuesday, August 5, 2014]

Today I did my first of approximately 300 workouts that will take me to IM Boulder 2015. It's exciting and scary to have committed to my first full IM distance tri. My goal for 2015 is to just be able to finish in regulation time. My biggest focus in my training is to stay healthy so that I don't have to miss any workouts. I will adjust the intensity of my workouts so that I don't overtrain and / or injure myself.

I give thanks to the Universe for the abundance it provides me. I surrender and am open and ready to receive.

Sprint Tri Workout

[Tuesday, August 5, 2014]

Last night I put together a spreadsheet to layout my current plan for the rest of 2014. The plan calls for a 10% increase in each of the workouts each week. This week the Sprint Workouts are 5 minutes swim, 26.5 minutes bike and 17.5 minutes run.

All in

[Monday, August 4, 2014]

Well, I just did it. I completed my registration for IM Boulder 2015. The event takes place on my birthday. I had the option of buying a $90 insurance package that would allow me to get a full refund if I weren't able to make it to race day. I decided not to take advantage of that option and instead focus on ensuring that I DO make it to race day. Let the IM adventure begin!

It doesn't look like registration is open yet for Boulder 70.3 2015. I'll have to take care of that on a later date.

Don't get too carried away

[Wednesday, July 30, 2014]

I waited until later in the day to do my workout again. I swam 5 minutes, biked about 22 minutes and ran 15 minutes. I rode on the Expresso bike again today and did the City Express course. Yesterday's course was out of the Basic options and today's was out of the Moderate. Well, yesterday I had to extend the distance to take up the full twenty minutes. Today riding for 22 minutes I still couldn't cover the whole course. This course had a lot of climbing on it. There were may sections in which the grade exceeded 30%. read more ...

Woo Hoo!

[Tuesday, July 29, 2014]

I started working out again today. I didn't get to my workout until much later in the day, so I swam 5 minutes, biked 20 minutes and ran 15 minutes. It's probably a good idea to gradually build up anyway.

I'm so glad to be able to exercise again.

Itching to get back into training

[Sunday, July 20, 2014]

I finally got rid of my cold sometime within the last week or so. Just to give my body a complete chance to recover I decided that I would wait a couple of weeks to resume my workouts. I've still got one more week to go and I'm getting really anxious.

What is going on here?

[Thursday, July 3, 2014]

I had started feeling a sore throat the Thursday before Boulder 70.3. Fortunately, I still able to participate in and complete Boulder 70.3. However, by Monday I definitely had a full on sore throat and cold. So, I decided that I would not begin to resume workouts until I had enough time to fully recover. I have not exercised since the race and the cold just hung on. Monday of this week, I got another cold on top of the one that hadn't gone away. By Monday night, I was feeling pretty sore and tired. Definitely on Tuesday night I was totally chilled and achy. read more ...

[Wednesday, June 18, 2014]

Well, it's taken me a bit to finally get around to writing up my race report. I guess it's not important to detail why that is so. Instead, let me get into the report.
