Zone 1 - Zone 2 Run

Today was supposed to be another Sprint Tri Workout. But, I had worked all day long and I didn't feel like going to the gym to do the workout. I decided to get the dog out for a walk first, and then that turned into my workout. I walked the dog at a brisk pace for about an hour. So, I guess you could consider this a Zone 1 "Run."

If I count yesterday and today's workout, this was my twenty first workout in my IM journey. I guess it seems like a good time to stop the count in my posts. I'm not sure if I should count today's workout and now the numbers start to become compound.

Road Ride Zone 2

[Wednesday, August 27, 2014]

My original plan for today was that I was going to do another Sprint Tri Workout. I ended up riding my bike to pick up Eli from school. I did not add the loop around Kendrick to extend the time; I just came straight home.

I don't think that I would have the strength yet to take Eli to school in the chariot. I think he would be too heavy for me to haul up the climbs. I don't know if I'd have to walk the bike or if I would be able to push through at a turtle's pace. As it is, I end up riding the lowest gear without him in the chariot.

Sprint Tri Workout

This was my nineteenth workout in my IM journey. I swam for about five minutes, biked for about twenty seven minutes and ran for about eighteen minutes. Since it was raining (and around 7:15 pm and getting dark) I ran on the treadmill. There's nothing remarkable to report. I definitely prefer being able to ride and run outside. The tour rides on the Expresso bike make it a bit more enjoyable and easier to deal with riding on a stationary bike. I would imagine that once I add some intervals and other changes to the workouts it will be better still. read more ...

Zone 1 - Zone 2 Run

This was my eighteenth workout in my IM journey. I ran for about 70 minutes. My legs were a bit sore from yesterday and my hamstring did tighten up some during the run. So, I think it's clear that I'm not ready to increase my volume next week. Otherwise, the workout was fairly enjoyable.

Road Ride Zone 2

[Saturday, August 23, 2014]

This was my seventeenth workout in my IM journey. I wanted to ride out to the C470 trail again and head East. I went directly South on Kipling to get to the trail. That part of the workout took me about 50 minutes. So, I didn't have to much time to be able to head East before I had to start making my way back home. I ended up riding about two hours.

Tempo Trainer Swim

This was my sixteenth workout in my IM journey. I swam for about 20 minutes. It seemed like I finally started to relax into the rhythm and enjoy the swim close to the end. I'm not saying that I was not enjoying the swim at all prior to that. But, I definitely had more of an anxiousness about "just getting done with the workout." Stating it that way makes it sound more negative than I actually felt, though. So, I'm not doing a very good job of conveying the reality.

Zone 1 - Zone 2 Run

This was my fifteenth workout in my IM journey. I ran for about 45 minutes. Even though my right hamstring was feeling tight after I walked Zen, I decided that I would still get out for the workout and see if I could relax and release. The hamstring continued to be a little touchy through the workout, but I enjoyed the workout nonetheless. I think that I have finally started to find the right groove for myself. I am beginning to enjoy the workouts instead of just completing them.

Road Ride Zone 2

This was my fourteenth workout in my IM journey. I decided to do something a little different. I rode my bike to Eli's school to pick him up. On the way home I added a little side excursion to increase my total riding time. Riding to the school took about 25 minutes. Riding back was much faster because it's downhill all the way.

Tempo Trainer Swim

[Tuesday, August 19, 2014]

This was my thirteenth workout in my IM Journey. I was supposed to do a Sprint Tri workout. But, I had gotten up at 3:30 in the morning and had worked (with a breakfast and lunch break) until around 4:00. By the time I was making my way to the gym I knew that it would be too tight to squeeze in the scheduled workout. So, instead I swam for about 20 minutes / 1000 yards. It's probably good to have the variety. My plan is to do a bike on Wednesday and a run on Thursday. Then I'll do my normal workouts on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
