Road Ride Zone 2
I couldn't get Eli ready fast enough to be able to ride him to school. So, I just picked him up from school. I did have to put in a bit of hustle, though, because I got out the door a bit late and wanted to make sure I got there on time. So, I think I increased the difficulty of the workout just by pushing a bit harder.

I rode for just over 2 hours this morning. I headed out along Morrison into C470 and then veered off at Alameda to ride over Dinosaur Ridge into 40. Then I came back down Rooney and resumed on C470 up to 6th and back home.
I loved being able to get out for a nice morning ride before starting the work day and I really like this route.

Jeff put together some tough sets in the Masters swim today. There were a number of reps where I was supposed to swim 25m without breathing. That's way beyond my ability at this point. I gave my best effort for the workout.
I ran for about 1:00. But, I think I'll need to pay more attention to how I feel from the double hill workout on Thursday. I'm pretty tired right now and I do want to make sure that my bike workouts take priority. I'll have to see what I can do tomorrow and Sunday.

I took Eli in the chariot to school this morning and then picked him up in the chariot. This was the first time I have ridden up the hill with him. I think that this is going to be a nice way to do my Thursday bike workout for a while. I'll have to see how the weather holds out.

I rode for about 1:25. It is much cooler today and I waited until the afternoon to head out. I enjoyed the comfortable riding temperature.

I was able to complete the whole workout in lane 2 today. We did a set of 6X100 @ 2:05. They said that they were doing the first three at 2:05 and if that was too easy they would do the last three faster. I don't know if they went faster on the last three or not. Whatever they did, I didn't get much rest on the second three. I just took a little breather and then pushed off again.
I ran for 1:00 and did a 19 run / 1 walk.
It's good to be back into the routine again. I've got lots of work to do for me to be able to aim for a sub 14:00 IM.

I got out for about 1:10 on the Bear Creek Trail. My right knee felt fine today, so I think I've got the cleat adjusted well now.
I'm thankful to be getting back into my exercise routine and I'm thankful that I can just enjoy the workout.

I visited the midwest from August 4 - August 11. I would have been happy to get in a workout starting with the 4th. I did do a one hour-ish bike ride on the 12th.
Today I rode about 2:20, up and over Lookout Mountain, back down 40, over Dinosaur Ridge and back down Jewell. It's nice to be able to just get out for a ride and enjoy the ride for what it is.
I think I'm going to start riding with a local cycling group.
I want to increase my bike workouts to four per week. I plan to do Wed, Thu, Sat, Sun.

Somewhere around 10:22 pm last night I successfully completed my quest to become an IronMan. I felt a huge sense of accomplishment crossing the finish line. Here's a really brief race report.
I was much faster out of the water than I expected to be.

Tomorrow will mark not only my 48th birthday, but the culmination of two years' worth of effort. I'll be participating in my first full IronMan triathlon! Not too many weeks ago I thought it was highly improbable that I was going to be able to finish the race. As of today, I'm reasonably confident that I can finish it in about 15.5 hours.
