Last week I was in Costa Rica for a family vacation. I had an amazing and wonderful time.
Lana and I took a trip to Ouray from Thursday night through Sunday morning. (Eli stayed with his Bubbe Sue.) Ouray was beautiful, as always. We stayed in a nice little condominium and didn't use the car one time the whole time we were there. We enjoyed a couple of days of great hiking. But, the best part of the trip was listening to Terrence Real's "The New Rules of Marriage" on the drive down and back and getting to strengthen our bond with each other. We continue to work on taking our marriage from being good to great / exceptional.
First the news: I signed a contract to become a full-time employee with Accenture Federal Services. I have been working with them for approximately the past year as a freelancer and I'm excited about the new opportunities I will have as an employee. Yay!
So, what opportunities will I have?
I finally decided to take the plunge and migrate this site from Drupal 6. Five or so hours later and I'm creating my first post in my Drupal 8 version of this blog. I must say that I am quite pleased with the Migration utilities Drupal 8 provides.
As I was creating this post I did come across one hiccup with the tags taxonomy term entity reference that I quickly resolved.
I do hope that sometime soon I'll rebuild my custom theme.

First a bit of context: Things have been going well for Lana and me. We just purchased a new car this past weekend and we are excited to get rid of her car.
At first we were thinking about donating the car to a charity. However, we don't generally itemize our taxes and wouldn't end up gaining any financial benefit from the donation. When I looked online at the Kelley Blue Book value of our car I realized that we might get considerably more for our car than I thought. So, we have decided to see about selling the car on Craigslist.
So, where have I been all this time? What happened to the weekly update?
TL;DR I had to buckle down and strip out everything else. I stopped exercising, blogging, creating videos and pretty much everything else. I focused strictly on billing as many hours as I could on my paying gig and as many hours as I could on the weekend finishing "Mastering Drupal 8 Development."
Yes, YES, YES!!!!! I finished the course on October 29. After that I still had some requests to change some things and fill out some paperwork from the editor.
How the week went overall: It was okay.
One thing that did not go according to plan: I did not produce the final videos for section 2 or 3 for "Mastering Drupal 8 Development."
One thing that went well: I did complete the screen capture for sections 2 - 4. I also completed my monthly LinkedIn and Blog post this morning.
Plans for the coming week: I'm going to be at Texas Camp and I don't expect I'm going to get much done for the course. Maybe I can get some more screen capture completed.
How the week went overall: It was okay.
One thing that did not go according to plan: I didn't finish section 1 of "Mastering Drupal 8 Development."
One thing that went well: I realized that I need to reorganize how I'm going to split my hours.
Plans for the coming week: Produce the final videos for sections 1 - 3.
How the week went overall: It was good.
One thing that did not go according to plan: I didn't complete as much screen capture as I had hoped.
One thing that went well: I mustered the energy and focus to at least get some screen capture.
Plans for the coming week: Get whatever screen capture completed that I can in the mornings and evenings. I think that maybe I will see about getting the final videos done for section one of "Mastering Drupal 8 Development." I don't know if I want to get into the voice over or not.
I flew to San Antonio for a project on Sunday afternoon and I worked massive hours on the project all week long. I didn't put one minute into the course. I would have liked to have gotten more done on the project as well.
I'm flying back out to San Antonio tonight. Fortunately, I was able to package up an alpha release of my work and send it to the project lead. Let's see how much more I can bang out this week while I'm in Texas. Perhaps I'll aim for doing some screen capture for the course in the evenings in my hotel room.
