Masters Swim

This was the last Friday of the month, so I swam in a different lane with some different lane mates. As a result, I pretty much did the workout on my own while my lane mates did whatever they chose to do. I needed just a little extra time at the end to finish the 200m cooldown that brought to the workout total of 2250m. I did a fair amount of all four strokes during the course of the workout.

Road Ride Zone 2

I ended up just picking Eli up in the chariot after school for my workout today. I didn't even workout at all yesterday. I'm a little anxious about how much fitness I'm losing, but also enjoying a little bit of a breather. I think I've still got a bit of time that I can relax before I need to get back to more structure and volume.

Happy New Year

Yesterday was Yom Kippur. I went to services in the morning. Lana had decided to go for a hike and Eli was in school. So, I was able to take a spot in the back corner of the sanctuary and cover myself with my tallit. It got pretty uncomfortable standing for three hours. But, that was just part of I got to experience.

I fasted through the time that our guests arrived for the break the fast. The scene was quite chaotic and noisy with all the children running around and playing. It was wonderful.

Masters Swim

If I recall the entire workout today, we did 6X50 drill and swim, 200 IM, 2X50 kick, 300 pull, 2X50 kick, 4X100 IM, 2X50 kick, 5X100 crawl, 2X50 kick, 100 easy. I was pretty beat on the 4th and 5th 100, but still happy to get such a good workout. The workout overall was challenging and enjoyable.

Road Ride Zone 2

I was pretty undproductive this morning and really let the day get away from me. I just got back from a 30 minute bike ride. I guess I needed a break today.

The weather was lovely and I really did enjoy the ride, as short as it was.

Masters Swim

I was up very early this morning. I worked for a couple of hours before the swim workout. I did have an inkling to just keep working and do a different workout later in the day. But, I decided it would be better to get to the workout. As it turns out, the coach wasn't there today and I put together my own workout. I'm still glad that I completed the workout early in the day.

Road Ride Zone 2

I rode for about 1:40 on the Morrison / C470 / Dinosaur Ridge / Rooney / Jewell route. It is dark for too long right now for me to be able to do it in the morning. So, I had to do it this afternoon and it was a bit warm.

I've tagged this post with ritual because I feel like my exercise routine has become a ritual for me. It's no longer just about preparing for any particular event. It's about a part of my life routine.

Masters Swim

I knew that I didn't want to miss any more swim workouts and that I needed to make sure to get to the pool today. Since I had missed two weeks I decided to move back down one lane. I had a great workout today and was reminded once again how much I love getting up early and getting in my workout.

Road Ride Zone 2

I was very productive in making some great progress on my next Udemy course this morning. I had intended to ride with a cycling group today. Instead I just got back from an easy one hour ride. I think that it's a better balance that I allowed the bike ride to take a back seat. I will be very happy when I get this next course published.
